2013 cycle · Donors

Officials & staff giving

People who currently hold office in, serve on a commission or board of, or work for City of Santa Monica, matched to gifts dated Jan 1, 2013 to Dec 31, 2013 to committees that filed in the 2013 cycle.

Giving to campaigns is legal. Officials, commissioners and public employees may give to candidates and committees like anyone else. This view does not suggest wrongdoing; it puts two public records side by side: a public list of who holds office or works here, and the contributions campaigns reported.

A match means a roster name and a filed donor name agree. How sure that is depends on what the filing itself says:

Confirmed
Same name, and the filing lists the person's agency as employer or their role as occupation.
Likely
Same name, and the donor's address on the filing is inside the jurisdiction. Not proof it is the same person.
Possible
Same name only. This may be a different person with the same name.

Nicknames or a first initial lower a match one step; two roster people with the same name are shown as possible only. Names are never merged. Each row shows the filing line as filed and links the filing, with the city's PDF first.

Gifts in the same window where the donor's filed employer is City of Santa Monica, whether or not the name is on the roster (payroll lists can lag new hires).

No filing in this window lists the city or district as the donor's employer.

Where the roster comes from

Payroll lists name everyone paid during the year shown, so a few people may have left since. Commission and board terms come from the clerk's roster. Corrections: tell us and we fix the roster, with the source.
